Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Law Clerk (Student) for a full-time placement within our boutique law firm in Maroochydore. This is an exceptional opportunity for a current law student to gain invaluable practical experience, work alongside experienced legal professionals, and contribute to meaningful legal work. The successful candidate will support our legal team across various practice areas, undertaking tasks that will build foundational legal skills and provide a comprehensive understanding of daily law firm operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist legal professionals with legal research, document drafting, and case preparation.
- Organize and maintain client files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Draft correspondence, memos, and other legal documents under supervision.
- Attend client meetings and court proceedings where appropriate.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments and managing communications.
- Help prepare briefs, reports, and presentations.
- Perform general office duties to ensure smooth daily operations.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) program.
- Strong academic record and a keen interest in legal practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous administrative or office experience (not necessarily legal).
- Familiarity with legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
- An understanding of basic legal principles.
