Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Bakery Oven Assistant to join our production team for early morning shifts. This vital role supports our experienced bakers by managing the loading, monitoring, and unloading of ovens, ensuring our daily baked goods are perfectly golden and ready for our customers. This position requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a warm, dynamic kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of doughs and other baking components for oven readiness.
- Load and unload a variety of bakery products (breads, pastries, etc.) into and out of commercial ovens.
- Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent quality and perfect bake.
- Maintain a clean and organised oven area, including regular cleaning of racks and surrounding workspaces.
- Assist with the packaging and cooling of finished products.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene standards rigorously.
- Support the head bakers with various tasks as needed during production.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and report any malfunctions promptly.
Required Skills
- Ability to work early morning shifts consistently (starting as early as 3 AM).
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays (up to 20kg), and work in a warm environment.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Eagerness to learn and take direction.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality goods.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment is a plus but not essential.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Current Food Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
