Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and community-focused Community Development Officer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in planning, implementing, and evaluating community projects that enhance social cohesion, promote participation, and address local needs within various Hobart neighborhoods. You will engage directly with community groups, residents, and stakeholders to identify priorities and facilitate impactful initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with local communities, resident groups, and stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities.
- Develop, implement, and manage community development projects aligned with council strategies.
- Facilitate workshops, meetings, and public consultations to encourage community participation.
- Prepare project proposals, reports, and funding applications.
- Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, ensuring objectives are met and impact is maximized.
- Collaborate with internal council departments and external agencies.
- Provide advice and support to community groups on capacity building and sustainable practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in community development or related fields.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with local government or not-for-profit organizations.
- Knowledge of community issues and networks within the Hobart region.
