Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacy Inventory Manager to join our hospital team in Griffith, NSW. This pivotal role is responsible for the efficient and effective management of all pharmaceutical inventory, ensuring optimal stock levels, minimizing waste, and supporting the seamless operation of our hospital pharmacy. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supply chain management, purchasing, and quality control, contributing directly to patient safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust inventory management systems and procedures for all pharmaceutical products.
  • Monitor stock levels, conduct regular audits, and implement strategies to prevent stockouts and reduce expiry-related waste.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, manage procurement processes, and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of pharmaceuticals.
  • Oversee the proper storage, handling, and distribution of medications, adhering to all regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
  • Analyze inventory data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other hospital departments to ensure smooth medication supply chain operations.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory discrepancies, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Participate in budget planning and control related to pharmaceutical expenditures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations (e.g., TGA), and hospital policies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical inventory management, preferably within a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain logistics and procurement processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience with hospital-specific inventory systems.
  • Knowledge of Australian healthcare regulations and TGA guidelines.
  • Certification in supply chain or inventory management.
