Job Description

We are actively seeking a motivated and reliable Seafood Sorter to join our dedicated team in Mount Gambier. This is an immediate hire opportunity for individuals looking for a stable, full-time role within a thriving coastal industry. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and efficiency of our seafood processing operations. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to all successful candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect, sort, and grade various types of seafood according to quality, size, and specific product standards.
  • Carefully remove any undesirable elements or by-products from the catch.
  • Assist with the precise weighing and packing of sorted seafood into designated containers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in strict compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene protocols to ensure product integrity.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a chilled or cold production environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the capability to identify quality discrepancies.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 15 kg).
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong, positive work ethic.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work cooperatively within a team setting.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of food safety principles or a willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in a production, warehouse, or food handling environment (desirable but not mandatory).
  • Current Food Handler Certificate (an advantage, but training can be provided).
