Job Description

Join Ecolab as an Ergonomics & Human Factors Intern and contribute to our mission of creating a safer workplace. This internship provides a unique opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world workplace safety challenges. You will work closely with our Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team to identify, assess, and mitigate ergonomic risks, enhancing the well-being and productivity of our associates. This role is ideal for students passionate about human factors, industrial engineering, or occupational safety, looking to gain hands-on experience in a leading global company. No prior professional experience is required; we are looking for eager learners who can grow with us.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting ergonomic assessments of various workstations and processes across manufacturing, office, and field environments.
  • Collect and analyze data related to musculoskeletal disorder (MSD) risks, using observation, interviews, and specialized tools.
  • Support the development and implementation of ergonomic solutions, including workstation redesigns, tool modifications, and procedural changes.
  • Contribute to the creation of training materials and awareness programs on ergonomic best practices for employees.
  • Research current trends and best practices in ergonomics and human factors to inform internal strategies.
  • Document findings, recommendations, and action plans in detailed reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including EHS professionals, engineers, and operational leaders, to integrate ergonomic principles.
  • Participate in safety committee meetings and site inspections to identify potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Ergonomics, Human Factors, Occupational Safety, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of ergonomic principles and risk factors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply new concepts in a corporate setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed coursework in ergonomics, biomechanics, or human-computer interaction.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS) or CAD software.
  • Previous experience with data collection or research projects.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
