Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Arboriculture Lead to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing arboricultural projects for both council and commercial clients within the Greater Sydney region, with a primary focus on Parramatta and surrounding areas. You will be responsible for leading a team of arborists, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications, while driving operational excellence and client satisfaction. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong understanding of urban tree management challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of arborists and ground staff, fostering a culture of safety and high performance.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute arboricultural works, including tree pruning, removal, planting, and risk assessments for council and commercial contracts.
  • Ensure all operations comply with relevant Australian Standards, WHS regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct site inspections, prepare detailed reports, and provide expert advice on tree health, risk, and management strategies.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure efficient and profitable service delivery.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Oversee the maintenance and safe operation of arboricultural equipment and machinery.
  • Implement and promote best practices in sustainable arboriculture and environmental management.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs related to tree hazards as required.

Required Skills

  • Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Arboriculture or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of practical experience in arboriculture, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working on council and commercial arboriculture contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards for tree work (AS 4373, AS 2726, etc.) and WHS legislation.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in tree identification, pest and disease diagnosis, and advanced pruning techniques.
  • Current chainsaw operation certificate and elevated work platform (EWP) license.
  • Valid Class C driver's license (MR or HR desirable).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Arboricultural consulting experience or qualifications (e.g., QTRA, TRAQ).
  • Experience with GIS mapping and arboricultural management software.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Traffic management certification.
