Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior VFX Artist to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals passionate about visual effects who are eager to learn and grow within a professional studio environment. You will work closely with senior artists and supervisors, assisting across various stages of the VFX pipeline and receiving comprehensive on-the-job training. If you have a foundational understanding of VFX principles and a strong desire to develop your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior artists with rotoscoping, paint, and prep tasks to ensure high-quality plates for compositing.
- Perform basic tracking and matchmoving under supervision.
- Organize and manage visual effects assets and project files.
- Execute minor compositing tasks and contribute to scene setup.
- Actively participate in dailies and feedback sessions, implementing revisions as directed.
- Research and develop new techniques and software functionalities.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and workflow.
- Collaborate effectively with the team to meet project deadlines and creative goals.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of visual effects pipelines and terminology.
- Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Nuke, Maya, or similar.
- Strong eye for detail and color perception.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new software and techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Animation, Visual Effects, Film Production, or a related field.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing personal projects, even if student work.
- Basic knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) is a plus.
- Prior experience with rendering software (e.g., Arnold, Redshift) is beneficial.
