Job Description
Are you passionate about sustainable living, growing your own food, and making a tangible difference in your community? Greenfield Sustainable Farms & Education Center is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Sustainable Agriculture & Permaculture Intern to join our dedicated team. This is an unparalleled opportunity for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in regenerative agriculture, permaculture design, and small-scale farming operations. No prior experience is necessary; we are looking for curious minds with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn. You will be actively involved in the daily operations of our farm sites, contributing directly to food production, ecosystem health, and educational programming. This internship provides comprehensive training and mentorship, setting you on a path to a career in sustainable food systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of crop production, including planting, weeding, watering, pest management, and harvesting using organic and permaculture principles.
- Learn and apply permaculture design elements such as soil building, composting, water harvesting, and beneficial insect habitats.
- Participate in farm infrastructure maintenance and development, including greenhouse management and irrigation systems.
- Support educational workshops and community outreach events related to sustainable agriculture.
- Contribute to data collection and record-keeping for farm operations and yield tracking.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Engage in continuous learning about sustainable practices and share insights with the team.
