Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Council Site Supervisor to oversee civil works and maintenance projects within the Katherine region. This pivotal role involves supervising works crews, managing project timelines and budgets, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and maintaining high-quality infrastructure. The successful candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong background in civil construction and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of civil works and maintenance crews.
  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to required specifications.
  • Implement and enforce Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures on all sites.
  • Manage resources, including personnel, plant, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with relevant standards and council guidelines.
  • Liaise with internal departments, external contractors, and community stakeholders as required.
  • Prepare daily reports, progress updates, and other necessary documentation.
  • Identify and report on potential risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in supervising civil works and maintenance projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of civil construction principles, practices, and standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations.
  • Current Australian Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction or a related field.
  • Previous experience working within a local government or council environment.
  • First Aid certification.
  • White Card (Construction Induction).
