Job Description
Are you a hands-on individual looking to start a new career with a reputable company? Orkin Canada in Morden, MB is seeking a motivated Pest Control Exclusion Technician. No prior experience in pest control is required – we offer extensive, paid training to ensure your success. In this vital role, you will learn to identify and seal entry points in buildings, preventing pests from entering and creating long-term solutions for our clients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working outdoors, and making a tangible difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete a comprehensive paid training program to become proficient in pest exclusion techniques.
- Inspect residential and commercial properties to identify potential pest entry points such as gaps, cracks, and structural vulnerabilities.
- Perform sealing and repair work using various materials like caulk, mesh, wood, and other building materials to prevent pest access.
- Install and maintain exclusion devices (e.g., vent covers, bird netting) as needed.
- Communicate effectively with clients, explaining exclusion strategies and answering questions.
- Document services provided, materials used, and observations accurately.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and company protocols.
- Maintain company vehicle and equipment in good working order.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and commit to a comprehensive training program.
- Basic manual dexterity and comfort using hand tools (e.g., caulk gun, hammer, drill).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, crawl in tight spaces, and work in various weather conditions.
- Valid provincial driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Comfortable with heights and confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in construction, handyman work, or general maintenance is an asset but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
