Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Hotel Maintenance Helper to join our dedicated team at Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in hotel maintenance, with a strong focus on learning and hands-on training. You will assist our experienced maintenance staff with a variety of tasks, ensuring our resort remains in top condition for our guests. Full training will be provided for all duties and tools, making this an ideal role for someone with a great attitude and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled technicians with routine maintenance and repairs across the resort premises.
  • Learn to perform basic repairs such as painting, minor plumbing, and light carpentry under supervision.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to identify and report maintenance needs.
  • Help with the upkeep of public areas, guest rooms, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Support the maintenance team in responding to guest requests and emergency repairs.
  • Learn to safely use and maintain various tools and equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance workshops and storage areas.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Senior Technicians.

Required Skills

  • No prior experience in maintenance is required; full training will be provided.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of general handyman tasks or a keen interest in learning.
  • Previous experience in a service-oriented role (e.g., customer service, labor) is a plus.
  • Current valid driver's license (manual or automatic).
