Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Public Sector Procurement Driver for light van delivery to join our team in Salisbury. This crucial role involves the timely and secure transportation of essential goods, documents, and supplies for various public sector clients within Salisbury and the surrounding Wiltshire area. You will be responsible for ensuring that procurement items are delivered efficiently, safely, and in accordance with strict operational guidelines. This is a full-time, on-site position that requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a light commercial vehicle for local deliveries and collections.
- Transport procurement items, including documents, equipment, and supplies, to public sector clients.
- Adhere to planned routes and schedules, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
- Conduct pre-departure vehicle checks and routine maintenance reporting.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, complete paperwork, and obtain necessary signatures.
- Ensure the security and integrity of all items during transit.
- Uphold high standards of professionalism and customer service.
- Comply with all road safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with loading and unloading the vehicle as required.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license (Category B)
- Clean driving record (minimal points)
- Ability to safely operate a light commercial van
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Physical ability to lift and carry packages as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial driving or public sector logistics
- Knowledge of Salisbury and local Wiltshire road networks
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Familiarity with delivery scanning systems
