Job Description
Are you an ambitious and driven individual eager to kick-start your career in the construction industry? Multiplex is seeking a Quantity Surveying Cadet to join our dynamic team in Fremantle. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with little to no prior experience, providing comprehensive training and mentorship to develop you into a skilled Quantity Surveyor. You will gain hands-on experience across various aspects of project costs, contracts, and procurement, working on significant projects that shape the landscape of Western Australia. We are looking for someone with a strong eagerness to learn, an analytical mindset, and excellent communication skills. Full training will be provided, ensuring you have all the tools and knowledge to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Quantity Surveyors with cost control, budget management, and financial reporting.
- Learn to prepare and analyse tender documentation, contracts, and procurement processes.
- Support the measurement and valuation of construction work.
- Participate in site visits to understand project progress and cost implications.
- Contribute to the preparation of variations, claims, and final accounts.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, site teams, and subcontractors.
- Actively engage in learning opportunities and mentorship programs.
Required Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently undertaking or recently completed a degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- A genuine interest in the construction industry and project financial management.
- Prior experience in a labouring or administrative role within construction is a bonus but not essential.
