Job Description
Are you a passionate and aspiring designer with a keen eye for luxury accessories and handbags? Nordstrom is offering an exciting internship opportunity within our private label luxury design team in Memphis. This role is perfect for an entry-level individual eager to gain hands-on experience in the design and development process for high-end accessories. You will work alongside experienced designers, contributing to trend research, material selection, and the creation of concepts that define the next generation of luxury fashion. This internship provides invaluable exposure to the luxury goods industry, mentorship, and a chance to see your creative input come to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior designers with research on upcoming fashion trends, materials, and hardware relevant to luxury handbags and accessories.
- Contribute to concept development and mood board creation for seasonal collections.
- Prepare design sketches, technical drawings, and specifications using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Support the sourcing and organization of materials, trims, and color palettes.
- Create physical mock-ups and prototypes to test design functionality and aesthetics.
- Participate in design review meetings, providing input and learning from constructive feedback.
- Maintain organized design archives and material libraries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development and merchandising.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Strong sketching and rendering skills.
- Basic understanding of fashion design principles and product construction.
- Passion for luxury fashion and accessories.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or related program.
- A strong portfolio showcasing creative projects, even if academic.
- Familiarity with luxury market trends and consumer preferences.
- Experience with 3D design software (e.g., Rhino, CLO3D) is a plus but not required.
