Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Airport Cargo Pallet Wrapper to join our team at the Stamford freight terminal. In this critical entry-level role, you will be responsible for the proper netting, wrapping, and securing of various types of cargo onto pallets and skids, preparing them for safe air and ground transportation. This position is vital to maintaining the integrity of shipments and ensuring compliance with all safety and operational standards. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate manual and automatic pallet wrapping equipment efficiently and safely.
- Secure freight with appropriate netting, straps, and protective materials to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Inspect cargo for proper packaging, labeling, and potential damage prior to wrapping.
- Ensure all wrapped pallets meet company and regulatory standards for weight distribution and stability.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, including loading/unloading freight and maintaining a clean work area.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding cargo status and operational needs.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 70 lbs) frequently throughout the shift.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and secure cargo preparation.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels and follow instructions.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or airport cargo environment is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with pallet jack or forklift operation (certification not required, but beneficial).
- Basic understanding of freight handling and safety procedures.
