Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and inspiring Art and Design Teacher to join our dynamic Arts department. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator, potentially including Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs), to contribute to a thriving school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality Art and Design lessons across various age groups, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression in our pupils. You will play a key role in developing students’ artistic talents and appreciation, preparing them for future success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Art and Design lessons to students across different key stages.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
- Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages artistic exploration and risk-taking.
- Organise and participate in co-curricular activities, including art clubs, exhibitions, and educational trips.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement innovative curriculum plans.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management and student welfare.
- Engage with parents and guardians regarding student progress and development.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- A degree in Art, Design, Fine Art, or a related discipline.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Art and Design principles and practices.
- Ability to teach a broad range of artistic techniques and media.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for Art and Design and for inspiring young people.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Art and Design at secondary level.
- Familiarity with the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Experience with digital art software and technologies.
- A portfolio showcasing personal artistic practice.
