Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and inspiring Art Teacher to join our thriving department at The Wolstanton High School. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality art education across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering creativity, technical skill, and critical appreciation in our students. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to contribute to a collaborative faculty and make a significant impact on students’ artistic journeys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging art lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that encourages artistic exploration and expression.
  • Organise and participate in extracurricular art activities, clubs, and exhibitions.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the Art curriculum.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Ensure the health and safety of students within the art classroom and workshop.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Fine Art, Art Education, or a related discipline.
  • Proven ability to teach art effectively to students of varying abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of art history, theory, and practical techniques across various mediums.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at GCSE level.
  • Specialism in a particular art form (e.g., ceramics, digital art, photography).
  • Experience in organising school art exhibitions or community art projects.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in art education.
