Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Local Authority Senior Center Coordinator to manage the daily operations of one of our vital senior centers. This pivotal role involves overseeing all activities, programs, and services offered to our senior community members during day hours. The coordinator will ensure a welcoming, safe, and stimulating environment, facilitating social interaction, recreational opportunities, and access to essential support. You will be responsible for staff supervision, volunteer management, program development, and maintaining high standards of care and engagement. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent organizational skills and a genuine passion for serving the elderly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and administration of the senior center, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate a diverse range of activities, educational programs, and social events tailored to the interests and needs of senior participants.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor center staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
  • Manage center resources, including supplies, equipment, and facility maintenance, ensuring a safe and comfortable setting.
  • Maintain accurate records, participant data, and activity logs, preparing reports as required by the local authority.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all relevant health, safety, and safeguarding regulations and policies.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for seniors, their families, and community partners, addressing inquiries and concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with local community organizations, health services, and other stakeholders to enhance program offerings and outreach efforts.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a social care, community, or senior services setting, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building rapport with seniors, families, staff, and the wider community.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of staff and volunteers.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by older adults.
  • Ability to obtain or current First Aid and CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in Health & Social Care, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation within a community setting.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services available for senior citizens in the Stratford-upon-Avon area.
  • A valid enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
