Job Description
Are you passionate about sports and eager to learn a valuable trade? Sport Chek is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Athletic Equipment Repair Technician to join our workshop team in Trail, BC. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with a mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn, as full training will be provided. No prior experience is necessary – we’re looking for potential!
As an Athletic Equipment Repair Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers’ gear is in top condition, enhancing their athletic performance and safety. You will learn to diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of sporting equipment, from bikes and skis to racquets and fitness machines. This is a workshop-based role, providing hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot issues with various athletic equipment types.
- Perform repairs, adjustments, and maintenance tasks under supervision and with provided training.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment for repair or inspection.
- Ensure all repaired equipment meets quality and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Assist customers with equipment-related inquiries and provide expert advice once trained.
- Manage inventory of repair parts and tools.
- Continuously expand knowledge of new equipment technologies and repair techniques.
Required Skills
- A strong enthusiasm for sports, athletic equipment, or mechanics.
- A fundamental mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- An eagerness to learn new skills and follow detailed instructions.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and move equipment as required.
- No prior experience in equipment repair is required – we will train the right candidate!
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic familiarity with hand tools.
- A personal interest in outdoor activities, cycling, skiing, or other sports.
