Job Description
We are seeking a talented and innovative Automotive Design Engineer to join our growing team in Dover, DE. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge automotive systems and components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive engineering principles, CAD software proficiency, and a passion for creating high-quality, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical designs for automotive components and systems using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analyses to validate design integrity and performance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including 2D drawings, 3D models, and design specifications.
- Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and implementing necessary revisions.
- Conduct research on new materials, manufacturing processes, and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.
- Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, analyzing results and incorporating feedback into design iterations.
- Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Manage design projects from concept through production launch, adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (e.g., CATIA V5/V6, SolidWorks, Siemens NX, AutoCAD).
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software.
- Knowledge of automotive industry standards (e.g., ISO/TS, IATF 16949).
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
- Demonstrated portfolio of automotive design projects.
- Experience with various prototyping methods.
