Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as a Baggage Porter on a casual basis for day shifts within the bustling airport environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced setting, physical work, and contributing to the travel experience. As a Baggage Porter, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe handling of passenger luggage, ensuring timely delivery and collection. Full training will be provided to the right candidates who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload baggage from aircraft, baggage carts, and conveyor belts.
- Transport baggage between terminals, aircraft, and baggage claim areas.
- Operate baggage handling equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., tugs, belts, carts) after training.
- Verify baggage tags and ensure luggage is directed to the correct flights or destinations.
- Assist passengers with baggage inquiries and provide friendly, helpful service.
- Adhere to all airport security regulations and safety protocols.
- Report any damaged baggage or irregularities promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to 23kg) repeatedly.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina for standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Must be available for casual day shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physically demanding role or customer service environment.
- Basic knowledge of airport operations or aviation terminology.
- Valid Australian Driver's License (desirable for operating ground support equipment).
