Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Big Data Architect with expertise in Hadoop and Spark ecosystems to join our growing team in Richmond Hill, ON. This role is critical for designing, developing, and implementing robust, scalable, and high-performance big data solutions that meet complex business requirements. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our data architecture strategy, working with diverse datasets and advanced analytics tools. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable big data architectures using Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies.
- Develop data ingestion pipelines, data processing frameworks, and data storage solutions.
- Evaluate and select the most appropriate big data tools and technologies for specific project needs.
- Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance standards are met across all big data initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
- Stay updated with the latest big data trends, tools, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Big Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase, Kafka).
- Strong proficiency in Apache Spark for data processing and analytics.
- Expertise in at least one programming language: Python, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with cloud big data services (AWS EMR, Azure HDInsight, Google Cloud Dataproc).
- Deep understanding of data warehousing, ETL/ELT principles, and data modeling.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in Hadoop, Spark, or major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty).
- Experience with stream processing technologies (e.g., Kafka Streams, Flink).
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and tools.
- Knowledge of machine learning concepts and MLOps practices.
