Job Description
Join our dedicated night shift team as a Bread Delivery Assistant at Illawarra’s Fresh Bakehouse. This vital role ensures our freshly baked goods reach our customers on time every morning. You will be responsible for loading, transporting, and delivering a variety of bread and pastry products throughout the Wollongong area. This is a physically active role requiring reliability, attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service, all while working during the quiet hours of the night.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately load bakery products into delivery vehicles according to route sheets and delivery schedules.
- Safely operate company delivery vehicles (vans or small trucks) to transport goods to various locations.
- Deliver products to cafes, restaurants, and retail stores, adhering to specific delivery instructions.
- Maintain a high standard of punctuality and efficiency for all deliveries.
- Assist with basic vehicle checks and ensure the cleanliness of the delivery vehicle.
- Handle delivery documentation and obtain necessary signatures.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards during loading and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with the dispatch team regarding any delivery issues or delays.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Driver's License (Class C or equivalent)
- Clean driving record
- Ability to work night shifts consistently (typically 10 PM – 6 AM)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy loads (up to 20kg) and perform repetitive tasks
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Basic communication skills to interact with customers and team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a delivery or logistics role
- Familiarity with the Wollongong and Illawarra road networks
- Experience working in a bakery or food production environment
- A passion for baked goods and customer satisfaction
