Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to kick-start your career in infrastructure maintenance? FM Conway is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic City Lighting Maintenance Assistant to join our dedicated team in Harrow. This is a fantastic entry-level position where no prior experience is required, as we will provide full, comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills needed to excel in this vital role. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and functionality of public lighting systems across our community, contributing directly to the well-being of residents and commuters. Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced technicians with the routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of street lighting and associated electrical equipment.
- Learn to diagnose faults and perform basic repairs on lighting columns, lanterns, and control gear.
- Participate in the installation of new lighting systems and components.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Operate and maintain specialist equipment and vehicles under supervision.
- Complete accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Adhere to health and safety procedures at all times, including traffic management and site safety.
- Support the team in emergency call-out situations to resolve lighting issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and vehicle.
Required Skills
- No prior experience in lighting or electrical work is required – full training will be provided.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- Demonstrable commitment to learning and personal development.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- A strong awareness of health and safety practices.
- Physical fitness to perform duties that may include lifting, climbing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of electrical principles (e.g., GCSE or equivalent in a relevant subject).
- Previous experience working in an outdoor or manual role.
