Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable City Lighting Maintenance Assistant to join our growing team in Virginia Beach. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals looking to start a career in infrastructure maintenance with no prior experience required. We provide comprehensive, full training on all aspects of city lighting systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance. You will work alongside experienced technicians, learning valuable skills and contributing directly to the community’s well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior technicians with the inspection, repair, and maintenance of city streetlights, traffic signals, and other public lighting systems.
- Learn to identify common issues such as burnt-out bulbs, faulty wiring, and damaged fixtures.
- Safely operate hand tools and power tools under supervision.
- Support the installation of new lighting components and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with inventory management of parts and equipment.
- Participate in emergency repairs and on-call rotations as needed after initial training period.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with outdoor physical labor or construction.
- Basic understanding of electrical concepts.
- Experience operating bucket trucks or other heavy equipment (training provided if needed).
- Familiarity with Virginia Beach geographic area.
