Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Calligraphy & Letterpress Intern to join our dedicated team. This is an unparalleled opportunity for someone passionate about artisanal crafts and fine printing to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant studio environment. No prior experience in calligraphy or letterpress is required; we are looking for a eager learner who is meticulous, has a keen eye for detail, and a desire to master traditional printing techniques. You will work closely with our experienced artisans, learning the intricacies of our craft from setup to final production.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior printers with setting up and operating letterpress machines.
- Learn about different paper types, ink mixing, and plate preparation.
- Support the design team with basic calligraphy and lettering tasks, including digitizing artwork.
- Help with quality control, packaging, and order fulfillment.
- Maintain a clean and organized studio workspace.
- Research historical and contemporary calligraphy and letterpress trends.
- Assist with client consultations and administrative tasks as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong eagerness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., word processing, email).
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple small tasks.
