Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Architect with expertise in both AWS and Azure platforms to join our innovative technology team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Cloud Architect, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that support our diverse business needs across the enterprise. You will be instrumental in shaping our cloud strategy, driving best practices, and mentoring junior team members. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of on-site collaboration at our Edmonton office and remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure cloud architecture solutions primarily on AWS and Azure platforms.
- Lead the implementation and deployment of cloud infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Ensure cloud solutions adhere to industry best practices, security standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Optimize cloud resource utilization and costs through continuous monitoring and analysis.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions seamlessly.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineers and other team members.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud architecture, configurations, and processes.
- Stay current with emerging cloud technologies, trends, and service offerings.
- Participate in architectural reviews and provide expert guidance on cloud solution design.
Required Skills
- Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in designing and implementing cloud solutions on both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency with core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, RDS, IAM, SQS, SNS).
- Proficiency with core Azure services (e.g., Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, VNET, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Azure AD).
- Demonstrated experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates.
- Solid understanding of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, VPN, load balancing, firewalls) and security best practices in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience with hybrid cloud environments and on-premise integration.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, Git).
- Scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience in the construction or related engineering industry is a plus.
