Job Description
Are you passionate about the magic of filmmaking and eager to dive into the world of commercial production? Cossette is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Commercial Directing & Producing Intern to join our dynamic team in Calgary. This is an incredible opportunity for an aspiring creative professional to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced environment of an integrated advertising agency. You will work closely with our experienced directors, producers, and creative teams, learning the end-to-end process of bringing commercial concepts to life, from initial pitch to final delivery. This entry-level internship is designed to provide comprehensive exposure and mentorship, making it ideal for individuals with a strong interest but limited prior professional experience in commercial directing and producing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist producers and directors with pre-production tasks, including research, location scouting, casting support, and vendor coordination.
- Learn and contribute to production logistics, ensuring smooth operations on set or during shoots.
- Support post-production efforts, including logging footage, organizing assets, and coordinating with editors.
- Observe and participate in creative brainstorms, understanding concept development and storytelling for commercial campaigns.
- Help manage project timelines and budgets under supervision, gaining insight into financial aspects of production.
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external partners.
- Conduct industry research on trends, techniques, and emerging technologies in commercial production.
- Perform administrative duties as needed to support the production team.
Required Skills
- Strong passion for film, video production, and advertising.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Basic understanding of video production workflows (pre-production, production, post-production) is a plus, but not required.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Film Studies, Media Production, Communications, Marketing).
- Experience with basic video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) or graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop) through academic projects or personal interest.
- A personal portfolio showcasing creative projects, short films, or video experiments (even if student or hobbyist work).
