Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Commercial Kitchen Hood Cleaner to join our night shift team in Dundee. This role is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and safety in our clients’ commercial kitchens. Working during off-peak hours, you will be responsible for the deep cleaning and degreasing of kitchen extraction systems, including hoods, filters, ductwork, and fans. This physically demanding role requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team. Due to the nature of the work, premium night shift rates are offered for your expertise and commitment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough deep cleaning and degreasing of commercial kitchen hoods, filters, plenums, ductwork, and exhaust fans.
- Dismantle and reassemble kitchen hood components as required for cleaning.
- Utilize specialized cleaning agents, tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
- Inspect kitchen extraction systems for damage or blockages and report findings.
- Ensure all work areas are left clean and tidy upon completion of tasks.
- Document cleaning activities and maintain accurate records.
- Operate access equipment safely (e.g., ladders, mobile elevated work platforms) when necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient completion of projects.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night hours.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift, bend, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to specific cleaning protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in commercial cleaning or industrial cleaning roles.
- Knowledge of kitchen extraction systems.
- Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport (some travel to sites may be required within the region).
- Current certification for working at height (e.g., IPAF, PASMA).
- First Aid certification.
