Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Commercial Landscaping Crew Leader to join our dedicated team in Leyton, London. This is an immediate start, full-time position involving extensive outdoor work. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and participating in all aspects of commercial landscape maintenance and installation projects. You will lead a small team, ensuring high-quality workmanship, efficient project completion, and adherence to safety standards. Your leadership will be crucial in delivering outstanding service to our diverse client portfolio across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a small team of landscaping operatives, assigning tasks and providing guidance.
- Perform a wide range of landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, planting, and mulching.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools.
- Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards, on schedule, and within budget.
- Conduct daily equipment checks and minor maintenance; report any major issues to management.
- Monitor and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring all team members follow safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with clients and management regarding project status and any issues.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and hours worked.
- Assist in the training and development of junior team members.
- Handle snow removal and de-icing operations during winter months, if required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial landscaping, with prior leadership or supervisory roles.
- Strong practical knowledge of horticultural practices and landscape maintenance techniques.
- Proficiency in operating various landscaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and specifications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to work.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Full UK driving license with a clean record.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Horticulture or Landscaping.
- PA1/PA6 certification for pesticide application.
- First Aid certification.
