Job Description
Are you ready to start a rewarding career in food production with no prior experience? Tyson Foods in Memphis, TN, is seeking motivated and eager individuals to join our team as Commercial Smokehouse Helpers. This is an entry-level position where we provide comprehensive, hands-on training for all aspects of smokehouse operations and meat processing. You will learn to prepare, load, and monitor meat products through the smoking process, ensuring the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced operators in loading and unloading meat products into commercial smokehouses.
- Monitor smokehouse equipment, including temperature and humidity controls, under supervision.
- Learn and apply proper seasoning and preparation techniques for various meat cuts.
- Perform thorough cleaning and sanitization of smokehouse equipment and work areas to maintain hygiene standards.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, food safety regulations (HACCP, USDA), and occupational safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate production records as required.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisory staff promptly.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient production flow and meet daily targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) frequently throughout a shift.
- Willingness to learn and commit to a comprehensive training program.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Basic communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures (hot and cold).
- Commitment to personal and food safety and hygiene.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse setting (not necessarily food-related) is a plus, but not required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the facility.
