Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Computer Vision Engineer to join our cutting-edge R&D team in Akron, Ohio. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and deploying advanced computer vision algorithms and systems to enhance our manufacturing processes, product quality control, and autonomous operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in deep learning, image processing, and real-time vision systems. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and deploy robust computer vision algorithms for various industrial applications, including defect detection, object recognition, and robotic guidance.
- Design and optimize image acquisition systems and data pipelines for high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and manufacturing experts, to integrate CV solutions into existing systems.
- Conduct research into new computer vision techniques and technologies, evaluating their potential application within Goodyear.
- Manage and maintain large datasets for training and validating deep learning models.
- Perform system validation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of deployed vision systems.
- Document technical specifications, design documents, and project reports clearly and concisely.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python and C++ programming languages.
- Extensive experience with computer vision libraries such as OpenCV.
- Strong background in deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for image analysis.
- Solid understanding of image processing fundamentals, including filtering, segmentation, and feature extraction.
- Experience with real-time computer vision systems and embedded platforms.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Experience in the manufacturing, automotive, or industrial automation sectors.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure) for scalable CV solutions.
- Knowledge of robotic operating systems (ROS) and robotic control.
- Publications in relevant computer vision conferences or journals.
