Job Description
This is an incredible opportunity for motivated individuals seeking to launch a career in the transportation and construction materials industry. Holcim US is offering a comprehensive trainee program for aspiring Concrete Mixer Truck Drivers. No prior CDL/HGV experience is required – we will provide full, paid training to help you obtain your commercial driver’s license (CDL) and equip you with all the necessary skills to safely and efficiently operate a concrete mixer truck. Upon successful completion of the training and obtaining your CDL, you will transition into a full-fledged Concrete Mixer Truck Driver role.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and complete all required CDL/HGV training modules, both classroom and behind-the-wheel.
- Learn and adhere to all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and local traffic laws.
- Observe and learn proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles.
- Assist experienced drivers and plant staff as needed to understand concrete mixing and delivery processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized training environment and vehicle.
- Once licensed, safely operate a concrete mixer truck to deliver ready-mix concrete to various construction sites.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and minor maintenance tasks.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials while maintaining product quality.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and customers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks (e.g., climbing, bending, lifting).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery or commercial vehicles (non-CDL) is a plus but not required.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
