Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Conference Assistant to join our dedicated events team. In this pivotal support role, you will contribute to the seamless execution of conferences and events hosted at our prestigious venue. You will be instrumental in preparing event spaces, assisting delegates, and ensuring all logistical aspects run smoothly, ultimately contributing to an outstanding guest experience. This role is perfect for someone eager to learn and grow within the vibrant hospitality and events industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of conference rooms and event spaces according to event specifications.
  • Greet and direct delegates and visitors, providing excellent customer service.
  • Support the Conference & Events team with administrative tasks, including preparing delegate packs and registration materials.
  • Ensure all audio-visual equipment is set up correctly and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
  • Monitor event spaces throughout the day, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Act as a point of contact for delegates and organizers during events, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Assist with serving refreshments and catering as required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the high standards of The Midland Hotel at all times.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take initiative.
  • Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within hospitality, retail, or events.
  • Knowledge of basic AV equipment setup and operation.
  • First Aid certification.
