Job Description

Are you passionate about the performing arts and eager to learn the intricate craft of costume design and wardrobe management? The Stephen Joseph Theatre is offering an exciting entry-level internship opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our vibrant production team. This internship is designed for those with no prior professional experience but a strong desire to immerse themselves in the world of theatrical costumes, from conception to stage. You will gain hands-on experience across various aspects of wardrobe, supporting our experienced team in bringing characters to life through costume.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Costume Designer and Wardrobe Manager with daily tasks, including costume preparation, maintenance, and organization.
  • Support during fittings, ensuring costumes are comfortable and suitable for performers.
  • Learn basic sewing techniques for minor alterations and repairs.
  • Assist with inventory management, logging costumes and accessories.
  • Conduct research for period-specific costumes and design elements.
  • Help with the dressing of performers backstage during rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the wardrobe department and dressing rooms.
  • Shadow senior staff to understand the full lifecycle of costume production for various theatrical productions.
