Job Description
Are you passionate about technology and eager to kickstart your career in the dynamic field of cybersecurity? Bell Aliant is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern for a summer placement. This is an incredible opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a real-world corporate environment, learning from seasoned professionals. You will contribute to various projects aimed at protecting our critical infrastructure and data, while developing foundational skills in security operations, threat analysis, and incident response. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring security systems and identifying potential threats.
- Support the security team in investigating and responding to security incidents.
- Contribute to vulnerability assessments and penetration testing efforts.
- Help maintain and update security documentation and procedures.
- Research emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies.
- Participate in security awareness initiatives for employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the cybersecurity team.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program related to Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a similar field.
- Strong interest and foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and networking concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coursework or personal projects related to cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Understanding of cloud security concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Basic knowledge of security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, firewalls).
- Active participation in cybersecurity clubs or competitions.
