Job Description
Are you an early riser with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn new skills in a rewarding agricultural environment? Fraser Coast Dairy Co. is seeking a dedicated Dairy Shed Assistant to join our team in Hervey Bay. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with little to no prior farm experience to learn the ropes of dairy farming from the ground up. You will be an integral part of our morning milking routine, ensuring the health and comfort of our herd and the efficient operation of the dairy shed. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates reliability, enthusiasm, and a willingness to work as part of a close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the morning milking routine, ensuring cows are brought into the shed efficiently and safely.
- Operate milking equipment under supervision and learn proper sanitization procedures.
- Monitor cow health and identify any signs of illness or injury, reporting to farm management.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the milking shed and equipment.
- Assist with basic animal husbandry tasks as required.
- Follow all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
Required Skills
- Ability to work early morning shifts consistently.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
- Comfortable working with large animals.
