Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead our efforts at our prestigious hotel in Canmore, Alberta. This pivotal role is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans to drive revenue, increase market share, and enhance the hotel’s brand presence. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in hotel sales and marketing, strong leadership skills, and a passion for the hospitality industry. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to achieve revenue goals and market share objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales and marketing team to meet and exceed targets.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and demand forecasting to identify new opportunities and challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, travel agencies, corporate partners, and local tourism boards.
  • Oversee all marketing initiatives, including digital marketing, social media, public relations, and promotional campaigns.
  • Manage the departmental budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource allocation.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance data, preparing regular reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other department heads to ensure seamless guest experiences and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in hotel sales and marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful sales and marketing strategies in the hospitality sector.
  • Strong understanding of the Canmore and broader Alberta tourism market.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in hotel property management systems (PMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and financial reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with a major hotel brand or a luxury boutique property.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms specific to the hospitality industry.
  • Multilingual abilities, an asset in a diverse tourist destination.
