Job Description

Are you an energetic, compassionate, and observant individual with an undeniable love for dogs? Coastal Canine Care in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, is seeking a dedicated Dog Daycare Playroom Attendant to join our growing team. This is an active and hands-on role where you will be directly responsible for the supervision, safety, and enrichment of dogs in our care. You’ll spend your days interacting with a variety of breeds, ensuring they have a fun, healthy, and positive experience. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise groups of dogs in playrooms, ensuring a safe and harmonious environment.
  • Engage dogs in appropriate play activities and provide enrichment.
  • Monitor dog behavior, identify potential conflicts, and intervene safely and effectively.
  • Clean and maintain daycare play areas, ensuring high standards of hygiene.
  • Feed dogs according to schedules and specific dietary needs.
  • Administer medication as instructed by senior staff.
  • Communicate dog behavior observations and concerns to management.
  • Provide basic care such as fresh water, comfortable resting areas, and potty breaks.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love and understanding of dogs and their behavior.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal with dogs and colleagues.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with barking and dog hair.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with animals in a professional or volunteer capacity.
  • Knowledge of basic dog body language and group dynamics.
  • Pet First Aid and CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
