Job Description
Wooster School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Drama / Theater Arts Teacher to join our dedicated faculty for the upcoming academic year. This is a unique opportunity for an educator who is enthusiastic about inspiring the next generation of performers, creators, and appreciators of theater. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive drama curriculum, directing school productions, and nurturing students’ talents in a supportive and challenging environment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement engaging curriculum for drama and theater arts courses across various grade levels.
- Direct and oversee school theatrical productions, including selecting plays, holding auditions, rehearsing students, and managing all aspects of stagecraft and performance.
- Teach a variety of theater disciplines, including acting techniques, improvisation, voice and movement, stagecraft, theater history, and playwriting.
- Mentor and guide students in their artistic development, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative skills.
- Assess student progress through performance evaluations, written assignments, and practical projects, providing constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other faculty members and departments to integrate drama into the broader school curriculum and community events.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and school-wide activities.
- Manage theater equipment, props, and costumes, ensuring a safe and organized learning and performance environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theater Arts, Performance, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years (36 months) of demonstrated experience teaching drama or theater arts at the K-12 level or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven ability to direct and produce student theatrical productions.
- Strong pedagogical skills and a passion for working with young people.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Eligibility and willingness to undergo the visa sponsorship process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Theater Education, Fine Arts, or a related discipline.
- State teaching certification or licensure in Drama/Theater Arts.
- Experience with diverse student populations and differentiated instruction.
- A portfolio showcasing previous production work or teaching materials.
- Proficiency in stage lighting, sound design, or set construction.
