Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Support professional to join our team within the Queensland Department of Education, with a primary focus on supporting preschool programs in the Gold Coast region. This role involves providing essential assistance to lead educators, contributing to a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily preschool activities in line with departmental guidelines and the Early Years Learning Framework. You will be instrumental in fostering positive child development, maintaining a safe and clean setting, and collaborating with staff and families to achieve optimal outcomes for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead educators in the planning and implementation of age-appropriate educational programs and activities.
- Support children's learning and development through direct engagement, supervision, and guidance during indoor and outdoor play.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised preschool environment, including preparing learning materials and tidying up.
- Provide individualised support to children with diverse needs, under the direction of the lead educator.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as recording attendance, preparing snacks, and communicating with parents as required.
- Observe and document children's progress and behaviour to contribute to assessment and planning.
- Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and relevant legislation regarding child protection, health, and safety.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and ongoing training opportunities.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated passion for working with young children and families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction.
- Basic understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates (or willingness to obtain).
- Working With Children Check (Blue Card) or ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in an early childhood setting, childcare, or preschool.
- Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS).
