Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Electrical Fitter to join our Power Infrastructure team based in Dandenong. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical components within our high-voltage substations and network infrastructure. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively as part of a highly skilled team to ensure the integrity and reliability of Victoria’s power supply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and associated equipment in substations.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and fault finding on power infrastructure assets.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Participate in planned outage work and emergency response activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including inspection reports and maintenance logs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other trades personnel.

Required Skills

  • Relevant Australian Electrical Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience as an Electrical Fitter in a power utility or heavy industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with high voltage (HV) equipment and substation environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High Voltage Switching Operator Certificate.
  • Experience with SCADA systems or protection relay testing.
  • Working at Heights and Confined Space entry tickets.
  • First Aid and CPR qualifications.
