Job Description
Are you looking for a career where you can truly make a difference? SA Ambulance Service is seeking compassionate and resilient individuals to join our team as Emergency Call Takers (Trainee). This is an extraordinary opportunity to learn life-saving skills from the ground up, with no prior experience required. You will undergo comprehensive training to become a critical link between those in need and the emergency medical assistance they require. In this fast-paced and challenging role, your ability to remain calm, listen actively, and act decisively will be paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and evaluate incoming emergency (000) calls with urgency and professionalism.
- Gather critical information from callers to accurately assess the nature and severity of the emergency.
- Provide clear, concise pre-arrival instructions to callers, including first aid advice, under stressful conditions.
- Dispatch appropriate ambulance resources efficiently and effectively based on established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of all calls and dispatched resources using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Liaise with other emergency services and healthcare providers as required.
- Adhere strictly to SA Ambulance Service policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
- Participate actively in ongoing training and professional development programs.
