Job Description

This is an incredible opportunity for individuals with no prior experience in emergency services. We provide full, paid training to equip you with all the skills and knowledge required to excel in this critical role. As an Emergency Services Telecommunicator, you will be the calming voice and first point of contact for people experiencing emergencies, triaging calls, providing vital pre-arrival instructions, and dispatching ambulance resources. Key Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency calls from the public with empathy and efficiency.
- Gather critical information quickly and accurately to assess the nature and severity of the emergency.
- Provide clear, concise, and reassuring pre-arrival instructions to callers, including first aid and CPR guidance, until ambulance crews arrive.
- Utilize computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to effectively dispatch appropriate ambulance resources to incident locations.
- Monitor ambulance unit movements and provide updates to crews and other emergency services as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all incidents and communications.
- Collaborate effectively with paramedics, police, fire, and other emergency service agencies.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Required Skills
- High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills, including active listening and clear articulation.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional in high-stress and emotional situations.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer usage and data entry.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the Gosford and Central Coast regions, or ability to quickly learn.
- Availability to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
- Successful completion of comprehensive background checks and medical assessments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or call centre environment.
- Basic first aid certification.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
