Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Consultant to join our dynamic team in Colchester, Essex. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of environmental projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, development, and energy. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality environmental consultancy services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving sustainable outcomes for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs), environmental due diligence, and other environmental studies.
- Managing and coordinating environmental projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Preparing detailed technical reports, environmental statements, and permit applications.
- Providing expert advice on environmental legislation, policy, and best practices to clients and project teams.
- Engaging with regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and clients to facilitate project approvals and foster strong relationships.
- Supervising junior staff and contributing to their professional development.
- Participating in business development activities, including proposal writing and client presentations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in environmental consulting, with a strong understanding of UK environmental legislation.
- Demonstrable experience in conducting EIAs and preparing environmental reports.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with experience in client and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Full UK driving license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).
- Experience with specialist environmental software or modelling tools.
- Knowledge of specific sectors such as renewable energy, waste management, or water infrastructure.
