Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Equine Veterinarian / Surgeon to join our dynamic team in Guelph, Ontario. This is a unique opportunity for a passionate professional to advance their career within a supportive and well-equipped environment. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of equine veterinary services, from routine care and lameness evaluations to advanced surgical procedures and emergency interventions. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive equine physical examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Conduct a variety of surgical procedures, including both elective and emergency surgeries.
- Manage and treat complex medical cases, including internal medicine and critical care.
- Provide emergency and on-call services on a rotational basis.
- Develop and implement preventative health programs for equine patients.
- Educate clients on horse health, nutrition, and preventative care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records.
- Collaborate effectively with veterinary technicians and support staff.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario (CVO).
- Proven experience in equine veterinary medicine, including diagnostic imaging and treatment.
- Demonstrated surgical proficiency in common equine procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple cases.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification or residency training in Equine Surgery or Internal Medicine.
- Experience with advanced diagnostic modalities (e.g., MRI, CT, scintigraphy).
- Previous experience mentoring junior veterinarians or students.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., French).
