Job Description
Are you an early riser with a keen sense of smell and a desire to work in a dynamic production environment? Riverbend Roasters is seeking a motivated Coffee Roastery Production Assistant to join our team. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to learn the intricacies of coffee production, from green bean handling to packaging and shipping. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring our high standards are met, contributing directly to the quality of coffee our customers love. This is a hands-on role requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to early morning shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with loading and unloading green coffee beans and roasted coffee.
- Support the Head Roaster during the roasting process, including monitoring batch progress and logging data.
- Operate and maintain packaging equipment, ensuring accurate weighing and sealing of roasted coffee.
- Prepare orders for shipping, including picking, packing, and labeling.
- Maintain a clean and organized production area, adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards.
- Perform routine quality checks on finished products.
- Assist with inventory management of green coffee, roasted coffee, and packaging supplies.
- Learn and adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize production efficiency and quality.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable and punctual, especially for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent work ethic and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP).
- A passion for coffee and a desire to learn about the roasting process.
