Job Description
We are seeking an highly skilled and experienced Butcher / Meat Cutter to join our team in Milton, Ontario. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about quality meat products and customer service. We are actively supporting international candidates through the Skilled Worker Visa Route, offering sponsorship to qualified applicants who wish to build a career in Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and merchandising a wide variety of meat products, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Skillfully cut, trim, and prepare various types of meat (beef, pork, poultry, lamb) according to Loblaws' standards and customer specifications.
- Operate and maintain meat cutting equipment safely and efficiently, including saws, grinders, and slicers.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of all meat products to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations (HACCP, CFIA).
- Assist customers with their meat selections, provide cooking recommendations, and offer excellent service.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas, including display cases, cutting rooms, and storage facilities.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving meat supplies.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience as a Butcher or Meat Cutter.
- Proven proficiency in various meat cutting techniques, including breaking down primal cuts.
- Thorough understanding of meat characteristics, cuts, and cooking methods.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle physical demands, including lifting heavy items.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Eligibility for Canadian Skilled Worker Visa programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal certification or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
- Experience in a high-volume retail grocery environment.
- Knowledge of different ethnic cuts and preparations.
- Fluency in multiple languages (an asset, not required).
