Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team in Swansea. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional who is passionate about maintaining robust financial controls and contributing to accurate financial reporting within a fast-paced and evolving financial services environment. You will play a crucial role in the preparation of financial statements, management of general ledger activities, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be vital in providing insightful financial information that supports strategic decision-making across the group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all financial transactions.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of tax computations (VAT, Corporation Tax) and ensure timely submission.
  • Support internal and external audit processes, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Implement and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide financial insights.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare detailed financial analysis and reports for senior management as required.

Required Skills

  • Part-qualified or fully qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA accountant.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within a large organisation.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and UK GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the financial services or insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Advanced Excel skills (VBA knowledge beneficial).
  • Experience with financial modelling.
